Old Pillows And Bedsheet Into Bed For Your Furry Friend

As rightly Sir Thomas Browne once said, “Every man is his own greatest enemy”. But luckily man has dogs as his best friend. Some might argue in favours of cats, birds, fish, tarantula or even snakes. Well, people do have different taste, I mean choice after all!

These pets, especially dogs and cats give us immense happiness and affection and we try to do what we can between our busy life. Occasionally you buy bedsheets online, after its shelf life is over, you throw these out. So on your next weekend, when you are free for (lets say) a couple of hours, bring out your old stuff and make something new for them.

The best thing about pets is, they value your love and dedication rather than your spending on them. So gather one or two old pillows and an old bedsheet and make a bed for them instead of buying one. This way you can reuse your designer bed sheets in Kolkata; so here’s a detailed guide!

Materials Required:

  1. Old pillows
  2. Old bedsheet
  3. Scissors
  4. Needle and thread/ Sewing machine
  5. Tracing paper
  6. Pencil

1. Make measurements on the tracing paper

The measurements you need for your pet bed vastly depends upon what furry friend you own. If it is cat or a lap dog, you can make a small bed. But if you own a guard dog, you need to make a large one for their comfort. Take a tracing paper, place it on the floor and draw an oval shape of appropriate dimension on it with the help of a pencil.

2. Cut out the bedsheet

Fold the bed sheet into half and place the tracing paper on it. Take a scissor and cut the bedsheet according to the dimension on it.

3. Start sewing

After you remove the tracing paper and extra pieces of bed sheet, you get be left with two identical elliptical shaped pieces of cloth. Bring your sewing machine and start sewing it from one end towards the other following the larger circumference. While sewing, leave about 6 to 7 inch gap unstitched. Sewing machine is optional as you can use needle and thread as well.

4. Stuff and stitch it close

Now you have something similar to a pillow cover, two flaps of clothes sewed with a small portion left open. Now bring that old pillows of your and do what you always wanted to, cut it open and extract the cottons from it. For smaller pets, you can get it done with single pillow and for big pets or multiple pets, you would need two pillow stuffing.

Now start stuffing the pet bed with the cotton. If you run out of cotton you can use left out pieces of the very same bed sheet as well. After it stuffed good enough for your pet, stitch it close with needle or thread/Sewing machine.
